sometimes its not easy to find a good name so ... the name of this mix is simply the result of playing gameboy yesterday. the mix starts very dream like and breaks in the middle with more electronica vocal stuff. excellent song on this one is no. 7. turn it up loud, in case you have good speakers of course only. same applies to no. 8. i like the break in the middle of the song, very unexpected. thats what its all about - music that has the suprising factor. oh yes and no. 9 .. the voice is so touching dont you think?

Hey im back, this time with a new series called "the leftovers series". these are mostly tracks which didnt fit in my other mixes and have been drowsing around for quite some while. its sort of a residue - many times i tried to use some of these tracks .. so before the all get mouldy i decided to gather some of em. suprisingly, when i sorted the final set, they all go well together.
this is the minimal version. ok the beginning and end are not very minimal so its more of a instrumental version. some of these tracks are really residue - i dont even know if i would enjoy some of these in the club? anyway its solid buildt with some killer tunes!

ajaa - this is bharati disco at its best. it all started with "jimmy jimmy. ever since then i caught fire and keep on digging for rare hindi disco stuff. ok the last two songs are actually not that rare but i like them anyway. check out the tune "boom boom - dil bolhi boom boom" i think it means "my heart speaks boom boom" she must be falling in love. and nazia hassan is pretty hot too, just like the girl that sings kaanta laga ... roooaaaarrrr. check out the videos to all the songs on youtube - you will love it! too bad i didnt play the complete set on the last mulodanz party :/ next time - promise

This mix is the first part of two mixes under this title and represents the more laid back and groove saturated approach to the theme, thou in parts definitly danceable.

its hard to say .. is it downtempo, hip hop, soul, lounge music, ... etc. some of the instrumental arrangements and the
instruments used surely qualify some of the tunes for a new sub genre, which could be called "smooth beats" or anything close to that.
The selection in this mix really is all about "the sound". chimes and rhodes or wurlitzer e-pianos, female voices
and tight beats - what else do you need? So this is it - a dedication mix to all these amazing singers and producers
who rarly are percieved the way they should. Its also a homage to the sonar kollektiv label and their extraordinary artists
like clara hill, soulphiction, atjazz, ame, outlines and many more. enjoy it anywhere and anytime.

Dont listen to this mix when you are not in the right kind of mood or mindframe - it will be whole different experience!
More important is that, if you listen to it, you should be not doing anything else that could distract and you have
to listen all the way to end! this mix took weeks of preparation, just to become so intense, that it would be a disgrace
to just tune in and tune out during everyday business. i hope you have a adequate sound system hooked up because first you
should always have and secondly this mix is very clean and very rich in musical detail; listen to it loud
as you can see this mix exists in two different version. this is the "make you sad" version as the title indicates.
you may wonder, whats the use of a second version that just changes the playlist order around. you got to try this and
then hear for yourself. and even if there are not many times when one deliberately wants to make him/herself sad, its more
about the way the different songs blend into each other and create a whole new feeling - try it! e.g. i think the sad part
of this mix, starting at around 38:00, is way more intense than in the other version (you may want to keep some tissues at hand)

for those who dont know, enzo is the most genuine club in frankfurt - if you are looking for, off the beaten track, nightlife and club action - there you go. the family like atmosphere, the interior design and of course the excellent music and live acts accounts for maximum disco action. this mix is my personal approach and a homage to the club and all the renown international artists that performed there (michael ruetten, mr. scruff, gilles peterson, freddie cruger just to name a few .. wow!). i squeezed 24 tracks of different genres, mostly heard in enzo, into one hour play time = 2:30 min. per track. i wouldnt say technically my best mix since to break a song after 2:30 sometimes requires brute force :) but the playlist should definitly compensate for that. actually i founf my last mix relativly longlasting so i decided to play the tracks on this on shorter. my favorites on this one: 9), 10), 14) 22) and 24) ... enjoy and see you there

Something new for your ears but yet very old indeed. Italo or classics from the 80ties have something very soothing. back end these days nobody used to compress and limit everything up to zero, flat and dead. There is plenty of air in the music, like the easygoing days back then, even though its dance music. These were the times i used to hang around the radio and tape all kinds of music since i could not afford buying cds or records. we used to make mixes by switching radio channels and trade the results between each other. the good old days! my favorite on this one are 7 and 8, even though the guy keeps on repeating power run - what is power run anyway? ... i googled and found a version of that song without the voice sample. haha the must have realised after some time thats its really nerve wrecking. still doesnt answer what a power run is supposed to be but ... maybe you can tell me :) .. enjoy!

Caterina Valente said one time: i was born in italy, am married with a german, live in france and sing in new york. she is undoubtedly one of the most talended and gifted european artist able to sing in over 12 languages - for me a true wonder. like other singers from the 60ties she has the smile in her voice which makes her so outstanding. its like she is born to sing! its strange, but when i say im totaly on the caterina valente trip at the moment people here in germany shrug their shoulders like .. aha, so next your are gonna make a heino compilation. well, for those poor minded people around me, there is a simple explanation for that: in germany she could only perfome beat-music / schlager stuff, since the popular german music scene back in the days was rather conservative and single minded, forcing the singer to sing in german and to be compatible with the james last orchestar style crap setups. funny, but germany must be one of the last countries where schlager shit still nails million of, mostly old and senile, people to the screen on a saturday night :) ... here is the proof and the real thing - she is one of the greatest, so bow you head, ... not only because she performed with artitsts like: Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Woody Herman, Chet Baker! but because she is truely unique.
